Savi Technology Announces the First Truly Global Sensor Designed to Eliminate In-Transit Blind Spots

May 13, 2019 17:57 UTC - Alexandria, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Savi®, an innovator in big data/machine learning analytic solutions, supply chain management software and sensor technology, today announced the newest addition to its current suite of sensors. Savi Locate™ for global multi-modal shipments is the first sensor built to operate on all available 4G, 3G and 2G cellular networks to ensure shippers have live, streaming visibility to goods in-transit worldwide. When coupled with Savi Visibility™ software, shippers will have up-to-the-minute data needed to mitigate the risk and cost of delayed or lost shipments.

The most significant visibility gaps in global multi-modal shipping happen when a shipment is transferred from land-to-sea or sea-to-land. Traditional Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) carrier messages provide delayed milestone information. In the case of land-to-sea shipments the Loaded on Vessel message that a container has been loaded on a ship is typically sent 1-5 days after loading. EDI does not offer real-time information on location. Savi Locate for global multi-modal shipments removes supply chain uncertainty by delivering objective and accurate real-time, in-transit visibility data from the broadest range of locations around the world. Savi Locate is the most affordable global GPS sensor on the market. In addition to its global coverage, the Industrial IoT (IIoT) sensor minimizes operations support requirements with a battery life of 6 months to 5 years depending on ping interval.

“Our customers have already witnessed the benefits of real-time visibility solutions in their supply chains, such as a pharma company saving $15M worth of inventory from spoilage and an industrial manufacturer reducing in-transit damage from shock,” said Rich Carlson, CEO of Savi Technology. “Now, Savi’s new Locate sensor offers the broadest coverage available today to help shippers measurably improve customer delivery performance and reduce carrying costs. This product continues Savi’s history of innovation in sensor technology and end-to-end solutions for today’s global supply chains.”

Savi Locate is available to both commercial and government customers.
