Kenyan authority to revoke start-up's international courier license

As reported by techweez, the Communications Authority (CA) of Kenya has issued a notice of its intention to revoke the international courier operator license of package delivery start-up Sendy Limited.

The regulatory body said that this would be actioned within seven days from the date of the Gazette notice dated 1 September 2017.

The Regulator is reported to have invited stakeholders, including people, companies or county authorities, to object the revocation of the license and says this should be addressed to the Director General of the CA, Francis Wangusi.

The notice, signed by Wangusi, did not stipulate the reasons for the action.

According to techweez, Sendy was the first beneficiary of Safaricom's US$1 million Spark Venture Fund which had the objective to allow entrepreneurs access financing and mentorship to scale their businesses.

The start-up allows people to hail a vehicle to make a delivery for them, from a set location to a destination.
